Jan van Rossem studied Art at the Academy in Utrecht.

Since 1998 he lived in Oman for 14 years, where he established the Daat Art Center.

At the Center he has been teaching painting to children from 5 years on as well as to adults.

The influence of Arabic design is easy to recognise in his paintings, so is his love to architecture

He spends a lot of time making his own paint, partly from material taken from the wadis in the Sultanate of Oman. For this he uses formulas which are more than 500 years old. The result is that his paintings have a high intensity of color and texture.

His style is that of a contemporary Dutch painter influenced by the Arabian culture. From one perspective you see the strong simplicity of shapes, and from another, the poetic inspiration of the Thousand and One Arabian Nights.

Since his childhood he has always appreciated geometric design. The use of geometric patterns makes his paintings playful, universal and timeless
